After touching town at San Jose del Cabo airport, you will be met by a Journey Mexico bilingual guide and transported to the charming colonial fishing village turned artist colony of Todos Santos. Upon arrival, settle into your lovely boutique hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

Overnight: Paradero Todos Santos

Meet your guide after breakfast and drive to Punta Lobos, where local fishermen launch their pangas at dawn. Follow a coastal trail that threads desert scrub and sea cliffs, passing an active sea lion colony and the ruins of Los Algodones, an old Baja shipping port. Your guide shares the area’s history and points out native flora and birdlife as the path opens to sweeping Pacific views. After two to three hours, arrive at a quiet beach for a picnic lunch, with time to explore the marsh rich in birdlife, swim or sunbathe, and, conditions permitting, try beginner-friendly surfing on gentle rollers. Return to Todos Santos by afternoon for downtime or dinner in town.

Venture into the Sierra de la Laguna foothills with your naturalist guide for a hike through striking desert canyons framed by granite cliffs and giant cardón cacti. Learn how water sustains life in this arid ecosystem as you reach a hidden oasis with three cascading waterfalls where you can swim in cool pools shaded by palms. Enjoy a fresh picnic before returning to Paradero Todos Santos to relax, visit nearby galleries, or enjoy the evening under Baja’s starlit skies.
Upon completion of your walk you will be driven back to your hotel.
* While most of the walk is easy and flat, there is some up and downhill rock scrambling and a ladder climb involved.

La Paz, the historic capital of the Californias, is tranquil, scenic and a great town to get to know on foot. Experience it through a local’s eyes, and your stomach! Our guide will accompany you on a tour of the culture, history and architecture of the town, including the street art of the of the La Paz Ciudad Mural project. Meet some true paceños, and along the way stop to try a few local delicacies.

Cruise across the Bay of La Paz to Espíritu Santo Island, a UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve where red volcanic cliffs meet turquoise waters. Hike desert trails lined with cacti and spot endemic birds with your naturalist guide, then snorkel among colorful fish and coral reefs. Depending on the season, visit the island’s sea-lion colony to swim alongside these playful mammals. A picnic lunch on a secluded beach and free time to relax complete this quintessential Baja experience.

Transfer to Espiritu Santo Island in a high-speed motorboat, while a private guide discusses points of safety and gives beginners the basics of sea-kayaking.

Then, hop in a kayak and start paddling across the turquoise waters surrounding Espiritu Santo Island. Arrive at one of its many beautiful beaches for a picnic lunch.

After lunch and a natural history walk, board a speedy launch and ride to a beautiful off-shore island, home to a large sea lion colony. Experience the thrill of swimming with sea lion pups and snorkeling among thousands of tropical fish. Return to the hotel in La Paz to refresh for a night out on the town for dinner and a farewell fiesta!
